Hauz Khas fame Amour Café & Bar opened a new spot, a few months back, to spread its exotic flavors to the posh lanes of Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
Though opened recently, this cozy café seemed to chart itself on the list of many. Finding a table for two on a Friday night was indeed a relief. We could only admire the ambiance once settled. It was small and lively brimming with a zingy vibe of its happy customers; we knew that the food had to be good. Rustic LED chandeliers well-accompanied by stained mirrors lent an age-old charm to the place. There was also a lovely irony of live band statues. The most intriguing sight was the wall racked with wine bottles up till the top. Well, it was just a glimpse of their massive wine collection! That’s when we decided to stick to wine for the night.
Now, when you are already tempted to start eating, an ostentatious menu might come across as a hurdle. The fancy names of their exquisite dishes can take a little more than usual time for you to decide. So let us give you some quick advice to make your choice easier. The Crostini tasted good but the spinach was a bit chewy. Gamberi Al Ajilio was one of our favorites! Juicy butter roast prawns served with sour bread loaf were utterly delicious! If you like to give a twist to your taste, then Hallomi and Peach Salad is what you’re looking for. It comes with a slice of cottage cheese, long sprouts, red bell peppers and a piece of cooked peach which gives it a bitter note.
The Fresh Market Green and Feta (Veg) on the other hand had a really nice dressing and mouth-melting cheese. This one’s highly recommended. The Roast French Farm Duck Confit was very well presented, while the Aubergine Ricotta Involtiniwas a vegetarian’s delight. But the best was yet to come! The pepperoni pizza, Diavola, was truly the baap of all pizzas, followed by the Spaghetti pasta. It had a very authentic taste and was just right as compared to the overdose of tomato sauce at other restaurants. We are surely coming back for these two!
Things took another turn at the sweets counter. The Philly Cheese Cake was neither fresh nor the base was crisp. The Tiramisu was bitter than usual and had a bit too much of coffee. But with the food so amazing, you may totally pass on the desserts.
