Spend some sweet leisure time in Connaught Place’s PVR Plaza Building as it encloses a fairly new Caffe Tonino with its promising Italian flavors and warm ambience…
A twist to the original Tuscan ambience has brought forth a perfect place for an intense conversation or a light hearted banter over an aromatic cup of coffee and yummy mocktails, a portion of home-made breads and a slice of traditional wood-fired pizzas infused with the natural woody flavor in a young, hip and vibrant atmosphere. Caffe’s wood-burning oven brings to Delhi the age-old Italian tradition while emphasizing on natural cooking methods.
Our eyes grabbed the quietude as we stepped inside the restaurant painted in grey and yellow. The bright tiled floors, decent ambience and dim lighting suited us to an extent that we could have stayed there for a couple of hours more to chill out our stressed senses and indulge in the chillaxed aura. Alas, we had to abide our time.
Detailed attention has been given to the interiors as well exteriors. A big beautiful chandelier overlooks the staircase at the entrance. As you walk in, you will be charmed by the mix of modern and rustic look of the Caffe, from chevron tiles and wooden flooring to quirky chairs with floral cushions, everything has been carefully put together to create a contemporary Tuscan look. The magnificent large windows along with the red and white brick walls compliment the relaxed ambience.
We soaked ourselves in the fresh vibe that Tonino offered us as we sipped in our Caffe Tonino Delight made from muddled fresh kiwi and pineapple juice, and Beets Beauty with right flavors of fresh beetroot muddled and cranberry juice.
Coming to the food, there’s nothing that says Italian more than the food served here. Our taste buds almost submitted to the true flavors in their original form. Each and every presentation was made with the expertise and technicality.
We just loved the Insalata di Barbabietole e Caprino made from diced beetroot, artichoke, sunflower seeds tossed in lemon caper dressing along with goat cheese. The Insala Rucola con Pere comprising rocket leaves with pears, cherry tomatoes, walnuts in honey balsamic dressing was also a delight. Even Tortelloni di Ricotta e Spinaci pavarotti made from spinach and ricotta tortelloni with creamy mushroom sauce and herb oil and Pizza Straccetti soaked in tomato sauce, mozzarella, chicken julliennes, onions and mushrooms treated our taste buds well, so much so that we managed to have them full despite no scope left in our belly.
The Farotto di Vegetali prepared from tuscan grains and simmered with vegetables, pecorino, and parmesan cheese along with Sogliola alla Griglia con limone e capperi from grilled river sole with lemon capers tomato sauce and vegetable cous-cous satiated our appetite for Italian flavours.
Finally, our all-time favorite Tiramisu and Panacotta served as the perfect desserts to complete our feast for the evening.
